June 2016 Family Recap

June felt so busy, but was so fun!  It felt like we had something going on every single day!  We are doing our best to take full advantage of summer!

June was dedicated to t-ball!  The majority of D's games were in June, and we loved going as a family to watch him play!  He continued to love it through the entire season, and got better each game, he's a little bit of a natural.  Neko was his biggest fan, almost every game I had to go get her off the field.

Pat's work gave out some free hotel stays, and he was lucky enough to win one!  It was just for one night, and D insisted we hang out at the hotel, but it was fun to get away for a night, and the kids loved it.  We played in our room, swam in the pool, and went out for some ice cream.  I love how the smallest things can make our kids so happy!

Kimi had some time off work, so we got to hang out with her and Lilli.  Our first outing was to the splash pad.  My kids were not nearly as excited about it as Lilli was.  In fact, Dylan really didn't like it, might have something to do with the fact he doesn't like to get his face wet!  Neko warmed up to it a bit, and I think they all managed to have a little bit of fun!

The next day we went to the Zoo!  It was a hot day, but we had fun!  We rode the train, carousel, saw some animals including the new baby tigers, and got to feed the giraffes!

Nan and Pop brought Aunt Mary and cousin Jack for a visit.  D was in heaven having Jack here to play with, and they both sure do adore their Nan and Pop.  It was so good to see Mary as it had been awhile.  It was a great visit!

We took Mary and Jack to the Natural Curiosity Museum.  D loved being able to run around with Jack.

D has been talking about going to the forest with Pop for months, so we of course made it happen while they were here.  It was such a fun little adventure.  While walking up the path Pat ran ahead and hid a treasure we had brought from home, and then marked the spot by making an 'X' with a couple of sticks.  I hope I never forget Dylan's excitement when he discovered his beloved treasure.  He was so happy that "a fairy and an old guy" hid a treasure in the forest just for him.

The highlight of the month for me was a visit from my childhood best friend!  Several months ago Bri texted to say she was coming for a visit, and I was so thrilled and spent months anxiously awaiting her arrival!  Pat took the time off work, so Bri and I were able to take a day and get away just the two of us.  We went up to Park City where we did the alpine slide, coaster, and zip line.  We also enjoyed some lunch and just soaked in the beautiful day and our time together.  It was perfect!

The next day we hung out with the family.  We went down to SLC for some yummy lunch, a train ride, and a trip to City Creek.  We all loved having her here, the kids adored her, and our only regret was that the visit ended to soon!

June is all about celebrating Pat!  Between Father's Day and his birthday, it gives us lots of opportunities to let him know how much we love him!  Now if I could only get him to cooperate for some pictures!

Neko and I started mommy and me swimming lessons.  She is such a brave little fish.  She scares the crap out of me, but I love how happy she is in the water.  I'm less thrilled that I had to wear a swimsuit two times a week.

We took our first camping trip with the kids!  We went up American Fork canyon and stayed for one night.  The kids had so much fun exploring, throwing rocks in the water, grilling hot dogs, and eating s'mores.  Overall it was a great experience, except for when Neko threw up all over in the tent at midnight!  It made for a cold rest of the night as she got most of the blankets.  Luckily Dylan was on the other side of the tent, so his stuff was fine, and then there was one blanket she and I shared.  Pat took one for the team and froze all night.  It all made for a very memorable camping trip!

And just like always, we did plenty of hanging out with each other and our friends.  We went on plenty of evening walks, ate yummy food, danced all over, and of course cuddled a lot.
