23 Months

My last month of having a one year old!  *sob*  You my sweet boy are growing way too fast!  That being said there is nothing I love more than being able to see the world through your eyes.  Everything is new and exciting!  I dare say you have hit the "terrible twos" a bit earlier.  You can throw one intense fit!  Luckily you can also be the sweetest boy on the planet, so I suppose it all balances out!  We love you so so much!!

Facts/Accomplishments:
You have figured out how to open doors, you're still working no mastering it, but in no time we will be fighting a constant battle of keeping you inside!
Along with the above mentioned terrible twos we've started implementing time out.  You don't quite get it yet, and when asked if you need a time out, you usually respond with a "yeah" and then have a total melt down when we actually do it.
You went to your first (and second) BYU football game!  Your favorite part was wandering around and eating a cougar tail!
You are constantly saying "uh oh, gui?"  We're pretty sure it means "got it"
You pull the funniest faces - you're such a character!
You have started walking down the stairs, and most the time refuse my offer to hold you hand.  It scares me to death!
You have started having an opinion on what you wear and some days we'll go through quite a few shirts before you decide your happy.
You are the best helper!  You love a good task!

Likes:
Your current favorite book is the Berenstain Bears and will regularly sit through an entire book (there are a lot of words in those books for a one year old!)
To say you love animals in an understatement!  Every day you're learning a new animal and the sound they make!
You also really love dinosaurs and have the cutest little "roar" in the world!
You think it's sooo funny when we make the dogs stand on their hind legs and "dance"
Your favorite movie is Winnie the Pooh and you watch "The backson song" all day long!
You are a little obsessed with noses, whether it's pointing them out on different people or animals or getting a kleenex to blow your own.
You love going for walks and collecting leaves and rocks along the way.
You've turned me couch into a "slide" and it keeps you entertained for quite awhile most days.

Dislikes:
You once again hate your car seat.  We seem to go through phases on this one!
You still really hate the word no, however, you are very good at using it!
Time out.  Every time I worry you are going to hyperventilate and the longest the ever last are 30-45 seconds.
You hate getting your haircut and scream and cry the entire time.  Luckily you get a balloon and sucker afterwards which makes it all bearable.

Love you my little one year old!

22 Months

Oh Little-D!  I can't believe how close we are to the two year mark!  Honestly, kills me.  You are certainly not my little baby anymore and are very much so my little boy.  Lucky for me, you are still quite the cuddler!  I love having you as mine and am so thankful for your daddy for giving me the opportunity to spend my days with you!  Thanks for making me so so happy!

Facts/Accomplishments:
You have absolutely mastered the word "No!"  Early in the month you were making a habit of screaming it at the top of your lungs at your highest pitch possible.  I am thankful that as of late a simple stated "no" is seeming to suffice!
You call your Grandpa Schofield "bock"  I have no idea why, but you do, and it's cute.
All day long you are pointing to things and either telling us what it is or saying "what's that?"
Your entire hand is constantly stuck all the way into your mouth
We are officially done nursing!  The transition was way smoother than I anticipated it being (thanks for that little buddy!)
In place of nursing to sleep we now sing songs, you make mommy feel good by clapping each time I finish a song.
Every time the freezer opens you think you should get some sort of treat, either an ice cream or popsicle even if it's 7:30 in the morning.
You quite possibly may be the shyest little boy in the world.  Most the time you aren't even sure how you feel about grandma and grandpa.

Likes:
You love seeing and pointing out water, you are a little less excited about getting in it.
Slides are one of your absolute favorites.
You are obsessed with belly buttons and thanks to one of our favorite books you call it your "bee-bo"
Speaking of books, you are finally getting to the point where you will sit down and actually let us read the words do you, however, your favorite part is still to point out all the things on the pages and say "what's that?"
Your favorite time of day is when daddy gets home from work.  You scream "deee" and bee line to the garage door.
Your current favorite movie is Despicable Me and often throughout the day request the minions.
You love hitting the dogs with various kitchen items.  I wish I could get you to stop.  Poor pups.
You are a true "animal" lover.  You like them all.  Including things like flies, ants, and bees.

Dislikes:
You hate the swings!  You won't even consider sitting in it by yourself.
Taking a nap.  Naps almost never happen anymore before first experiencing a total melt down.
Being told no.  I know, no one likes being told no, but you take it pretty hard!

Love you my adorable little boy!!

21 Months

Oh little one, here we are again, one month older and one month closer to being two!  It's unbelievable how fast time is going!  It's amazing to me how much personality and emotion exists in one little body!  You are a handful, but a very lovable one!  In this "ma's" opinion you are the greatest little boy there ever was.  Your smile and laughter are the best part of my days.  We love you oh so much and consider ourselves the luckiest parents around.

Facts/Accomplishments:
Your vocabulary is expanding every day.  My current favorites are: so silly and cooooool!
While you are learning new words daily, most of the day you are running around saying "da-dee!" or "cow"
You have a big fake over the top laugh and when we don't join in on the laughter you look at us and say "so silly?!?"  It's one of my absolute favorites!
If we are at home and I have my shoes on you will come and take them off for me.  Every time.
You are extremely particular about your food and what bites you are willing to take even if it's all the same food, you know exactly what piece of it you want.
When you accomplish a task such as a puzzle or cleaning up you throw your arms in the air and yell "done!"
When starting a task you will usually clap once and then get to work.
If you are finished eating something you let me know by dumping it out or tipping it over.  Drives me a bit bonkers!
You throw Oscar worthy fits!  Screaming, flailing your body all around, and rolling across the carpet.  It's impressive and disturbing.
You are incapable of keeping your hands to yourself.  You are constantly grabbing/hanging off me or your dad.  This only really bugs me when I'm trying to eat.
You are such a shy little boy!!
The other night dad was asking you animal sounds and then said "what does mama say?" to which you responded with tons of kissy noise.  My heart melted.

Likes:
You are a gatherer and love to spend your days piling up and then dumping out anything you can get your hands on.
Part of your love for gathering has made you the best little helper.  You love to do laundry, dishes, and throw things in the garbage.
Your favorite food is currently chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce.
You love to do your puzzles with mom and dad.
You suddenly love to wear your shoes and get quite upset when we take them off.
You LOVE playing outside!  Your favorite outdoor activities are digging in the dirt and throwing rocks but you are also perfectly content to just run around or go for walks.
You are obsessed with soda.  You usually only get the melted ice but try your hardest to sneak sips!  (mom needs to give it up for both of us!)

Dislikes:
Milk.  I can't get you to drink more than a few sips.  It makes me crazy with worry.
The swings - I can't even get you to try them!
Having to go inside.  It's a tantrum every single time.
Strangers.  If anyone even slightly unfamiliar comes near you cuddle in close to mom or dad.

Love you little boy!  More than you will ever know.

Trying to take a 21 month bear pictures required some serious begging and bribery and this is the best I got.  Perhaps it's past time to be done with it!  Plus I liked them better against my blue wall!

20 Months

Eeek - 20 months!  How is it possible my baby is quickly approaching being a two year old!  Honestly it blows my mind!  You are certainly becoming your own independent person full of opinions and wants, I only wish I could understand what you wanted!  The communication barrier at times is frustrating for us both!  You have quite the temper, but also are still the sweetest little boy.  I so love being your "ma!" and spending all my days with you, there is truly nothing better!!

Facts/Accomplishments:
When you first see me or daddy you run up to us, say "hi" reach up to give us a hug and then pat us on the back while we hug.  I love it.
Your daddy has taught you to yell for me whenever you can't see me.  All day long I hear "Ma!"  It's my favorite when we go to the store and you are with your daddy and I can hear you yelling for me from an aisle away.
If you are dancing, everyone must join in!  You'll give us a look and then shout mamama or dadadada until we start dancing!
You have started making the most whiny grunting noise ever.  It makes me a little crazy.
We bought a huge mirror for the living room and hadn't hung it up yet when one day I found you standing in front of it buck naked checking yourself out.  You were pretty pleased with yourself.
Whenever you eat something you like you accompany it by saying "mmmmmmmm"
You are officially getting into everything you shouldn't be!  Your current fascinations include dvds, kleenex boxes, the trash can, faucets, and worst of all, the lid to the toilet.  (keeping up with you is making me tired!)
You have become quite the hitter.  It's a problem.  Let's fix it, okay?
The security alarm in the house beeps twice when a door opens and you imitate it every time. "beep beep".
Your walking is pretty good at the point and you're starting to run.  You will run around in circles for the longest time!
You are pretty much always shirtless at home.  If you happen to have a shirt on you will run up to me pulling at the sleeves indicating I should take it off for you.
When you look at a book you always make an "O" shape with your mouth.

Likes:
You love to play outside and now can say "go ouside?"  Your favorite outside activity is playing in the dirt and throwing rocks.
You love having your bare back/belly/chest rubbed at bedtime.  You'll lay down next to me and if I don't immediately start you'll place my hand on your back, then if I start on top of your shirt you'll roll over to you back and pull your shirt up.
You are obsessed with babies.  Anytime you see a car seat you insist on checking it out.  I cannot keep you away from the babies and most the time you try to touch their faces (sorry other moms!)
On a daily basis you will go into our master closet and shut the door for some alone time.  You love it in there.
Watermelon has become one of your favorite summer foods.
You love ketchup and sweet and sour sauce.  Every time you dip your food you say "dip dip dip"
You are addicted to YouTube videos - your latest obsession is kinder egg videos.  I don't understand it, all it is, is a persons hands opening up plastic or chocolate eggs that have toys/stickers/candy inside.  You love them.
You love sweeping the floors!  Yay for me!!
You are a total animal lover.
Your absolute favorite activity is harassing/chasing/hitting/terrorizing the dogs.  Poor little pups are so good to put up with you!

Dislikes:
The grocery cart.  It's a rare occasion that I can actually get you to sit in the seat part of the cart.
Getting your diaper changed has once again become a struggle.  Ugh.
You suddenly have started hating bedtime and put of a fight every single night.  It doesn't matter how many naps you've had, how long they were, what time you took them, or what time I try to put you to bed, it's always a struggle.  It's making me crazy!!

Couldn't be happier to have you as mine!
