December 2014 Family Recap

Oh December, I'm not totally sure how I feel about you!  You were totally hard on our little family, but the magic of Christmas overshadowed everything else!  At least one of us was sick every single day of December.  Ugh!  From the time people left from Thanksgiving until the end of the month we all at some point had colds.  The second round hit us HARD!  Pat missed a day of work which never happens, Dylan was miserable and slept for two days, but poor Neko got it the worst.  For six days straight she'd cough so hard she'd make herself sick.  It was exhausting.  Sadly the exhaustion and sickness hit me on Christmas, but we still managed to have a great day!  During the month we visited Santa three times, drove around to look at Christmas lights more times than I can count (including Thanksgiving Point lights and 'The Tree of Life'), sang tons of carols, baked baked baked, Festival of Trees, and made lots of wish lists!  The kids reacted the exact same way to Santa on all three visits, Neko cried while Dylan would be soooo excited before and after the visit and then totally freeze up in front of Santa!  Our Elf on the Shelf (Jinglebell) also made her first appearance this year.  Dylan loved waking up every morning to discover her nightly antics!  We celebrated Christmas Eve in our traditional way with pizza, Christmas pjs, a holiday movie, and the Bible.  This year we also made gingerbread houses, which might have to be a new addition every year!  Christmas morning we woke up to way to many presents and snow!  Dylan was so excited about Santa bringing both!!  He was so fun and loved everything he got to unwrap, including all of Neko's presents!  That evening Ryan, Kimi, and Lilli came over to have dinner with us.  Overall is was a pretty fantastic Christmas!

Dylan in December

Oh little boy how you LOVED December!  We got the decorations up by December 1st and from that point on you were enamored with all things Christmas!  Every morning you'd wake up and sadly declare that Santa Clause had not come and there were still no presents under the tree.  I lost count of the number of times we drove around our block to look at all the Christmas lights.  You really loved Christmas carols, we sang a ton of them, but your favorite was We Wish You a Merry Christmas, which was the only song you let us listen to in the car.  And we visited Santa Clause three times.  Everything about you and Christmas was totally magical this year.  You are my favorite!  Along with an amazing Christmas, here are some other tidbits from the month!

You were constantly saying "let's check is out, or i'll show you, or huh?"
Every time Neko cries you insist we sing rock-a-by-baby to her, and amazingly it works!  It almost always calms her down!
We've been working on practicing sitting/crawling/standing with Neko and every time I do it you rush over to take your turn practicing
