January 2015 Family Recap

January was kinda a slow month around here, but I think that's how it's suppose to be after the craziness of the holidays. We rang in the New Year with the best of them, that is if the "best of them" means celebrating at 10:00 with a family selfie while wearing 2015 glasses! A few days later my folks came to town to see Ryan one last time before his big move to Germany. We are really going to miss him! We saw him quite a bit in the last few weeks before he left and it made me sad we didn't take advantage of getting together more! The rest of the month was just spent hanging out together. We renewed our aquarium membership and have been going regularly, I forced the kids to take valentine pictures to add to my decorations (which explains all the love photos in January!), played with daddy as much as we could on the weekends, and enjoyed the amazingly warm weather we've had at the end of January! Life might be kinda slow, and some days long, but the reality is, life is really good around here! I love this little family of mine!

As we rang in a new year this month, I also felt like my little toddler suddenly became more little boy than toddler. I really do marvel at how quickly you grow and change right before my very eyes, yet it somehow goes unnoticed until I really take a step back and look at you! You must have had a growth spurt this month because suddenly all your clothes are just a little too small, but even more than that your personality and who you are as a person just seems to grow every day. You are your own unique character and I love that so much about you. You keep us all on our toes and make us laugh so so much! You are my best pal and my favorite cuddle buddy. Thanks for being mine, and despite the fact you are growing up so fast, you still love being my baby! Every morning as I cuddle you and Neko you say to me "two babies!" and I reply with "one lucky mommy!"

Whenever I ask you to do something you either respond with "no problem" or "yes sir, Ryder sir!" (from Paw Patrol) or let's be honest, you "occasionally" just tell me no!

One night as you were falling asleep you said "goodnight mom, I'll miss you" it was the sweetest thing ever!

You are the very best singer!

You are constantly requesting to hear a story, your favorites being about Halloween, Christmas, or just a simple recap of the day.

You are so afraid of monsters! We do our best to comfort you and let you know we'll always keep you safe, and that monsters aren't allowed in our house!

When you get angry you scream "I'll punch you right in the face!" It makes me crazy!!

Whenever you do something a little bit naughty you ask "that be so funny?"

You are now primary age and became a sunbeam, you love going to class with your friends, but hate sharing/singing time!!

When you ask for something you say "is that a good deal?"

When I ask you to stop doing something you tell me that "you're just pretending" and then continue doing whatever it is I asked you to stop doing.

You would swing all day long if I'd let you

You have decided you hate getting clean, both baths and showers have become torture!

Neko - 9 Months!

Nine months have never gone so fast! You are quickly growing into your own little independent person and it's killing me! You are happiest when you're able to roam and play on your own, as long as you can see mom while you're doing it! You are so anxious to grow up and run with your brother. I'm always so anxious with how rough he plays with you, and yet the entire time you just sit there and giggle. I hope you two are always friends! It's hard to remember life without you! I feel so lucky to call you mine!!
