Eight Months

Dylan has been busy this last month!  I was sitting in bed the other night just thinking how amazing it is how quickly babies learn/grow/change.  Just imagine if we continued learning and growing at the rate of infants our entire lives!  I feel like some things just happened so naturally that it's hard to even pinpoint exactly when it occurred and then others have been fairly traumatic for everyone involved (yes teething, I'm talking about you!)  I swear every stage is just as great as the one prior and while there are times I miss my tiny newborn who just wants to cuddle with me all day, i'm loving my now mobile eight month old!

Accomplishments/Facts:
His baby jabber has officially turned into the sounds of "mama" we've also heard "dada" and "hi" (I'm still undecided on if this counts as a "first word" or not!)
We have not one, but two teeth!  bottom left on 6/20 and bottom right on 7/2
Army Crawling all over the house!  Really got mobile on 6/27.  His favorite destinations include; doggies, cords, shoes, door stop, diaper box, stroller, car seat, dog bowls, toes, and mom!
First trip to Hogle Zoo
Every time he laughs he gets the hiccups
Went swimming for the first time and loved it!
Often gets mistaken for a girl and when corrected the response is always "oh, but those eye lashes!"

Likes:
Books - his favorite being Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?
Straws
Napkins and Paper towels
Funny and/or new sounds made by mom and dad
Climbing all over mom and dad
The puppies, and by likes I mean loves!  Specifically pulling tails, ears, and paws
Sharing a popsicle with dad
Toys that make sounds/sing songs
Giggling with daddy
Jumping

Dislikes:
When mom leaves the room, or even acts like she's going to.  If I stand up, he cries.
Being with anyone other than mom after 8:00 p.m.
The doggies hiding from him
Not getting his way - I can't believe these tantrums are already starting!
His car seat - still - except now he fights me when I try to put him in it

Happy 2/3's of a year our amazing little boy!
Dad and Mom are crazy about you!!

30.

30!  Does this sound old to anyone else?!?  It certainly sounds a lot older than it feels!  I've been soaking it all in since the 1st and I can safely say I'm pretty okay with it, however, I sometimes can't believe that I graduated from high school 12 years ago, or even crazier I've been out of college for 7 years, but as unbelievable as it all sounds, it true!  The good news is, each year just keeps getting better!  I couldn't be happier with my happy little life and my adorable little family, which makes me think that 30 is actually pretty awesome!  I've also realized that no matter what my age happens to be, I will always be a kid at heart, which is evident by how I celebrated the big 3.0.  For my happy day the fam and some friends spent the day at Hogle Zoo!  It was so hot, but super fun!  I absolutely love the zoo and was so excited to take Dylan for the first time (he's still a bit too young and didn't seem to really care, but it was still a great day!)  In addition, I took myself birthday shopping and got some clothes and had dinner at Red Iguana (my favorite restaurant), not once, but twice!  Once with friends and once the following weekend when my folks came to town for a late celebration!  It's been a great week of celebrating my happy day - thanks to all for the birthday wishes, calls, cards, gifts, lunches and treats - it means so much to me!!

June Recap!

I seriously can't believe June has already pretty much come and gone!  There have been a number of things that I've been meaning to post about, but just haven't managed to get it done, so here's a quick recap of the month!

At the end of May/start of June Nan and Pop Holloway came to visit and brought cousin Jack along with them!  We had fun checking out the new city creek shopping center, going out to eat and just playing around the house!

After they left we decided we missed them and the Schofield side so we planned a last minute trip to Boise!  Pat had to work some long hours the upcoming week, so on Friday we packed up the car and he drove me and Dylan to Idaho!  Dylan and I spent the entire next week with my folks before Pat came back the next weekend to bring us home.  While in Idaho we played a lot!  Lots of fun times just hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  We sure do love and miss Boise (more so the people then the actual city!)

The timing of our Boise trip worked out perfectly and we were able to celebrate a big event - my dad turned 60!  His actual birthday was a few days after we left, but we did a little party on the weekend once Pat got into town.  A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Grandpa!  We love him so so much!!

June is pretty much Pat's month these days - first Father's day on the 17th and then his birthday on the 22nd!  We did our best to make his first father's day a happy one!  And of course celebrated his very happy day with some presents, dinner and a treat of his choosing!  Dylan love love loves his daddy, and mommy is pretty crazy about him too!  We both feel pretty darn lucky to have such an amazing guy in our lives!

One super fun thing we did this month was take Dylan to his first concert!  We went and saw Neko Case, one of mom and dad's favorite artists!  Outdoor concerts are so fun and the weather was perfect!  Dylan did great and made it through the entire show, it was such a great evening out with the family!  Later in the month just mom and dad went and saw Wilco, their very favorite band.  It was an awesome show!  Our dear neighbor watched Dylan for us, it was the longest we've left him and are so grateful for good friends that we trust!

Last but not least has been lots of play dates with the same neighbor and Dylan's BFF/GF Emma!  We love hanging out with them!  How great is it to have a next door neighbor with a little one that's just two weeks older than Dylan!  Pretty great if you ask me!

Oh ya!  And lots of play time with mommy!

P.S. If anyone could teach me how to put photos on my blog in a way that isn't so random,
 that would be awesome ;)

7!

Another month come and gone - he's going to be 1 before I know it!  It kills me!  This month has been super fun filled with play dates, trips to Boise and enjoying the sunshine!  His little personality is the best and he continues to show more and more of it every day.  He's such a little dare devil and likes to play rough.  He also is starting to show more and more independence, which at this stage is a little difficult!  He doesn't want to be held and if you try he'll squirm all around, but he's not mobile yet - it's a conundrum for us all!  His daddy still makes him giggle more than anyone else, but without question he is a mama's boy!

Accomplishments/Facts:
He is finally a sitter!  Still of course bobbles from time to time, but he's got it down!
Has the best smile and a super awesome laugh!!
Able to get wherever he wants to go by rolling and pivoting
Squirms constantly!  Always slinking his way off my lap
Does his best tooting while nursing (lucky mom!)
Had his first haircut - okay, not really a cut, we just trimmed down his super crazy long sideburns
Started kicking his legs when throwing a fit (we're in for it!)
Wets through his diaper at night about once a week
Right before he starts nursing he makes this little sound/laugh as if he's won some great reward

Likes:
Kisses on the cheek - this always calms him down
Pinching!  His favorite is to pinch my arm while nursing.  Ouch!
Sucking on wet wipes - I used to use one as protection when changing him, but now he's constantly trying to grab them and stick them in his mouth.  Yuck!
Constantly stretching and putting both arms back behind his head
Totally fascinated by the blow dryer
Sucking on cloth and the straps to his car seat/stroller
His exersaucer - best. purchase. ever.
Hitting things and making noise
When mom shakes her hair all around
The dogs - he is obsessed and for the most part they are very patient with him
Tickles!

Dislikes:
Having covers on his feet - he's constantly kicking them off
Sleeping on his own (still)  I know, this is my fault, not his.  That being said, he likes to wake me up by reaching up and touching my lips, it's pretty sweet
Being strapped in to anything - he'll puff up his chest to try and keep us from tightening him in
Baby food - we had a small success the other night, here's hoping the tides are turning on this one!

We love our little love bug!
